Training for Teachers - Kids Mediate- 8-9 May 2017

posted 4 Apr 2017, 00:53 by Educate and Disarm- Quaker Peace & Social Witness

Train the young people in your organisation to set up a ‘Kids Mediate’ service to resolve their disagreements by using the same process used in employment and family mediation. This specialist training develops skills for life: active listening, co-operation and problem solving. Ofsted consistently praise our trained mediators for their contribution to school’s behaviour and safety and the DfE research highlights the efficacy of mediation in reducing bullying.

We provide this training in partnership with Healthy Minds www.healthymindslondon.co.uk who have over a decade of experience of working in schools.

Location         Fred Bulmer Centre, Hereford, HR4 NJP

Date                8/9th May 9.30am – 3.30pm

Cost                £180 per person or £140 each for 2 participants.

This price includes lunch, refreshments and all course materials.

Joanna Bryan, Peterchurch Primary school Herefordshire

“We are already seeing the benefits. One of the lunchtime supervisors the other day said ‘I feel redundant!’ which shows it is working and in fact going really well”

Tim Hill, HM Inspector, Ofsted visit to Clifford and Wellington Primaries 3rd March 2017

“You have created a real sense of community within the school where pupils take care of each other. Pupils told me about the successful introduction of peer mediators in the playground. These specially trained pupils help others resolve disagreements in a non-confrontational manner. This is just one example of several where pupils at Clifford are trusted and given special responsibilities.”

If you are interested in setting up a ‘Kids Mediate’ service in your work environment, but are unable to attend we are holding another course on 10th and 11th July. Alternatively, we are able to work in partnership with your organisation, train the young people you work with and help you to set up the service specific to your needs

Next course ‘Kids Mediate’ in July 2017.
